Reds desperate for Keita
17.00: Liverpool are prepared to offer RB Leipzig more money in an attempt to bring forward the arrival of midfielder Naby Keita, says Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett.
Dorsett claims Klopp is not actively looking to sign a replacement for Philippe Coutinho and is instead focusing his attentions on Keita.
“Liverpool are looking to bring forward this deal though, the transfer of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig,” he said.
“They’ve agreed a £66.4million deal remember, that will bring him to Liverpool in the summer.
“But they are prepared to offer more money to get him now but at the moment Leipzig won’t budge.”
Allison to Liverpool
16:09: Roma are ready to offload Liverpool target Allison in order to fund new signings.
But any deal is unlikely to be done before the summer.
Liverpool and PSG are the two clubs in for Allison, claim Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Brazil international could replace Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius between the sticks at Anfield.
Babb wants trio
15.55: Former Liverpool defender Phil Babb has selected three players he wants the Reds to sign with the money they received for Philippe Coutinho.
The first player he would like to see at Anfield is Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.
Babb also says Liverpool lack a top-class defensive midfielder and has backed a move for Roma star Kevin Strootman.
Babb’s final choice was Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland, who he reckons Liverpool could sign this month with the Potters currently without a manager.
Lanzini to come in?
13:50: Manuel Lanzini is now odds-on at 8-11 with leading bookmaker Coral to sign for Liverpool in the January transfer window.
The West Ham attacking midfielder has been subject to a sustained gamble in the last couple of hours to move up north to Anfield.
“Now the Coutinho deal has gone through, Liverpool have plenty of cash to play with and punters feel as though they will look to capture West Ham’s Manuel Laznini who is now odds-on to join the Merseyside club this month,” said Coral’s John Hill.
11.30: Liverpool have been told to spend the Philippe Coutinho money on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Liverpool finally sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona this week after months of speculation.
Former Liverpool defender and coach Phil Thompson says they need to bring in a quality signing rather than lots of average ones.
“We need to go for high quality,” Thompson said.
“We spent £75m on Virgil van Dijk and we need to look at bringing in a player of the same quality in an offensive role.”
Liverpool eye Strootman
10.55: Liverpool are considering making a move for Kevin Strootman after selling Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.
Jurgen Klopp wants to bolster his midfield after losing his best player.
And Strootman would come in an tighten up the defensive unit by shielding the back four.
Italian website Premium Sport claim Liverpool are keen on the Holland international and Roma are willing to listen to offers.
08.44: Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim has opened the door for Thomas Lemar to leave the club this month.
Lemar is on Arsenal and Liverpool’s radar as they look for creative reinforcements.
And Jardim admits that while the preference would be to not sell this month anything can happen.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Jardim said: “We are not used to selling in the winter, but the transfer window lasts until the end of the month and many things can happen.”
07.30: Philippe Coutinho has penned an emotional message to Liverpool fans.
Coutinho completed his dream move to Barcelona yesterday but he still has plenty of love for Liverpool.
“Since the moment I arrived in Liverpool, me and my family have been made to feel so welcome and have made so many friends,” said Coutinho, in a message posted on his Instagram.
“On the pitch and off the pitch, we have experienced the beauty of this club and its fans. In turn, I hope I have delivered memories and moments that have brought happiness to the Liverpool supporters.
“Moving to Liverpool, I knew the club’s greatness and history but what I did learn during my time was the unique heart and soul of the place. It has its own personality and character.
“I leave Liverpool because Barcelona is a dream for me. Liverpool was a dream that I was fortunate enough to realise and I have given five years of my life to it.”
Klopp wants Goretzka
07.15: Jurgen Klopp is desperate to land Leon Goretzka from Schalke.
Philippe Coutinho’s departure has sparked a wild flurry of transfer rumours as Liverpool look to find a replacement for their former talisman.
And with £102million of the £142m transfer available to spend, they have plenty of cash to find the perfect player.
But the January transfer window can prove a difficult market to find the right player, as Liverpool discovered when the paid £35m for Andy Carroll back in 2012.
They did sign Luis Suarez that same window for cut-price and Coutinho also arrived in January a year later, but most clubs will wait until the summer to do their business.
Thomas Lemar and Riyad Mahrez have been heavily linked with moves to Anfield recently.
But SFR SPORT journalist Loic Tanzi claims Liverpool are not chasing either player this month.
Instead he insists Goretzka remains their No 1 target with Bayern Munich rumoured to be close to a deal.
Naby Keita blow
07.00: RB Leipzig will NOT allow Naby Keita to leave this month.
Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Keita in the summer but are trying to bring the move forward six months.
But the Bundesliga side are not keen and will hold onto him for the rest of the season.
